Investment Opportunity
Sea lice infestations drive significant yield loss and financial risk across salmon aquaculture, making them one of the industry’s most costly biological threats.
Opportunity
In Norway, approximately 15.4% of farmed salmon are lost to salmon lice annually, representing an estimated 21 billion NOK in lost revenue.
Mechanical delousing contributes to additional mortality and quality degradation, while regulatory limits require action when lice levels exceed 0.5 lice per fish.
Business Model
The Technology
Aquasonics uses ultrasound to prevent salmon lice larvae from maturing into adult lice. Rather than treating fish after infestation, we focus on prevention, keeping lice levels low enough that mechanical or chemical treatments are not required.
Monthly rental per fish pen
Offered as a service. Not hardware sales.
What's included
Functional guarantees.
Installation and operational support.
Positioning the solution as an operational expense (OPEX) rather than a capital investment (CAPEX) lowers adoption barriers and aligns well with existing farm operations.
Long-term potential to offer sensor-based data subscriptions (e.g. oxygen, salinity, turbidity, and digital twin monitoring)
Use of funds
